VALOMA AND THU DAU MOT UNIVERSITY HOLD THE SEMINAR: “INCREASE THE QUALITY OF LOGISTICS HUMAN RESOURCES THROUGH TRAINING ASSOCIATED WITH PRACTICE EXPERIENCE”

On May 7, 2022, the Vietnam Association for Logistics Manpower Development  (VALOMA) and Thu Dau Mot University (Binh Duong) held a seminar: “Improving the quality of logistics human resources through training associated with practical experience”.

The seminar with the participation of the Vietnam Association for Logistics Manpower Development, the University’s leadership, logistics service businesses and media agencies took place successfully at Thu Dau Mot University, Binh Duong province.

The seminar is a forum for exchange and connection between training institutions and logistics service enterprises in order to come up with new initiatives to improve the quality of logistics human resources; thereby helping students after graduation to be able to immediately adapt to the job without the need for enterprises to spend time and money on retraining.

According to Mr. Tran Thanh Hai – Deputy Director of the Agency of Foreign Trade, the Ministry of Industry and Trade – Honorary Chairman of VALOMA: “The seminar is meaningful for all parties involved in the development of logistics human resources in Vietnam, from state management agencies to logistics service enterprises and especially training institutions. On the side of the Agency of Foreign Trade, from the perspective of the state management agency for import-export and logistics activities in the past, we realize that the demand for human resources and training activities in the logistics industry is very significant and this is an important factor to help Vietnamese businesses develop strongly in the long run. Therefore, in order to support businesses and schools in logistics training activities, the Vietnam Association for Logistics Manpower Development was established.

According to Mr. Hai, with the current shortage of high-quality logistics human resources, schools need to renovate training programs, promote links with businesses, and closely connect with trade associations related to logistics throughout the training program in order to create maximum conditions for students to go to practice at enterprises, learn and master the processes and equipment operating in the industry. In addition, education and training institutions must change training methods and content, providing learners with more skills to meet the requirements of the labor market. In addition to basic principal skills of the profession, they need to be trained in more foreign languages, new skills, digital skills, etc.

From the practical training of logistics human resources, the seminar listened to the exchange of goals, output standards, program framework and training content… from representatives of managers, researchers, lecturers from universities. According to the exchange of Dr. Pham Thi Ngan – Ton Duc Thang University, the training program needs to be consulted, compared and improved from schools with advanced education and training in the world such as Singapore, Australia, and the Netherlands. … especially, it is necessary to consult and accompany the logistics business community in Vietnam. Schools with training in this industry need to have close links, coordination and mutual support in training to provide high-quality logistics human resources to serve the development needs of the country.
